Washington - The United States yesterday urged Ethiopia to end its advance into Eritrea, saying it had confirmed Eritrean forces had withdrawn from all areas they had occupied since the beginning of the two-year border war.

"The United States calls on the Ethiopian government to desist from all further offensive actions, including air attacks of the kind carried out against a power plant near Massawa and against the Asmara airport," the State Department spokesman, Mr Philip Reeker, said.
