A US soldier was killed and two others were wounded when their vehicle was hit by an explosion in central Afgahnistan today.
In a statement, the US military said the incident happened when the soldiers' Humvee vehicle hit an "improvised explosive device" in Deh Rawud district of Uruzgan province, scene of a joint operation by
Afghan and US-led forces since last week.
"All three were flown to Kandahar airfield hospital where the one soldier died," it said.
