US shuttle docks with Mir station

CAPE CANAVERAL - The space shuttle Atlantis successfully docked with the Russian space station Mir on Saturday, the third docking of the shuttle programme. The shuttle commander linked the two spacecraft, carefully edging the shuttle to the Mir at one foot per second. Mr Ron Sega, a mission specialist aboard the shuttle, spoke in Russian to the two man Mir crew as the shuttle approached.
