Washington - The US said yesterday it had imposed sanctions on five "entities" in North Korea and Iran for alleged missile proliferation, a largely symbolic step given limited US economic ties with those countries.

The sanctions were imposed on North Korean aerospace concern Chang Wong Sinjong Corp, and four Iranian entities, comprising the defence ministry, the aerospace industries organisation and two industrial groups, the US State Department spokesman, Mr James Rubin, said.
