London - The US Deputy Secretary of State, Mr Strobe Talbott, met the Pakistani Foreign Secretary, Mr Shamshad Ahmad, in London yesterday for talks on "South Asian nuclear issues".
A spokeswoman at the US embassy in London gave no further details of the talks, although yesterday's meeting was part of an "on-going series" of discussions on the subject. Last May the US imposed sanctions on India and Pakistan for carrying out nuclear tests that President Clinton said threatened world security.
