A US Marine helicopter made an emergency landing near the Iraqi city of Fallujah today amid clashes with insurgents around the city.
The crew was recovered and are in good condition, a statement said. The military did not say if insurgent fire had forced the helicopter down.
The Marines, who are using both fixed wing aircraft and helicopters, said they were responding to attacks from insurgents, but that their actions were "strictly defensive in nature".
