The Garda Deputy Commissioner, Mr P.J. Moran, is to attend a reception in New York next week to establish the Jerry McCabe Fellowship Programme, in honour of the detective garda shot dead in Limerick last June.
The programme is being organised by the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York.
Garda McCabe's widow, Mrs Ann McCabe, is also expected to attend the reception next Thursday.
