Washington - The US asked Russia yesterday to scrap plans to build nuclear reactors in India, saying it sends the "wrong message" about non-proliferation in the wake of Delhi's nuclear tests last month.

The Russian Atomic Energy Minister, Mr Yevgeny Adamov, on Sunday signed the deal in New Delhi to build two lightwater reactors in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.
