Healthcare firm United Drug has reported a year-on-year 16 per cent increase in pre-tax profits to €29 million for its first to the end of March.

Revenue rose 9 per cent from €707.9 million to €770.1 million. Adjusted earnings per share rose 15 per cent to 10.73 cent.

A final dividend off 1.97 cent will be paid, representing an increase of 15 per cent on last year, with the company saying it remained "committed to a progressive dividend policy".

The company said it remained positive about demand for its goods and services "and we continue to see opportunities to grow both organically and by acquisition."
