The count in a union ballot at Shannon Airport has been deferred pending the outcome of a SIPTU investigation.

The ballot boxes gathered into the union's Conroy Hall headquarters at Shannon for the scheduled count last Friday were transferred to Shannon Garda station. It is understood that the deferment concerns the conduct of part of the ballot and also the matter of a postal vote being made available to one member and not to another.

The complaint was lodged by Mr Pat Clarke, one of two challengers for branch president.
