Kinshasa - The UN refugee agency UNHCR said yesterday it had made good progress in talks on ending months of friction with the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Ms Sadako Ogata, met Congo's Interior Minister, Mr Gaetan Kakudji, yesterday on the second day of a four-day visit. Aides said they had laid the groundwork for better co-operation in solving refugee problems.
