Football and hurling qualifying draws: Armagh have been handed a tricky assignment against Monaghan in the first round of the football qualifiers. This evening's draw also pitted All-Ireland semi-finalists Wexford against Offaly.
The stand-out tie will see Monaghan tackle Armagh on July 4th, with Seamus McEnaney’s side enjoying the home advantage. As it stands, McEnaney will be unable to field Tommy Freeman unless he can get his two-month ban either reduced or overturned.
With the likes of Kerry and Derry not entering the backdoor system until the next round, other notable clashes will see Mick O’Dwyer’s Wicklow entertaining Fermanagh while Meath will play host to Waterford.
In hurling, Cork have been drawn against Offaly in the first round where Laois will also meet Antrim.
Galway, who will take great heart from last night’s epic encounter with Kilkenny, will meet Clare in the second round.
Wexford, dumped out of the Leinster championship by Dublin, will meet Limerick as they attempt to get their season back on track.
