Gardai have confirmed that an official of the University of Limerick is being investigated for the alleged misuse of prescription drugs. Allegations that students were photographed naked in improper circumstances were also being investigated, although no formal complaint has been made.
The president of UL, Dr Roger Downer, said the college authorities became concerned in December about aspects of the research programme of a member of staff and informed the Garda. The college also initiated its own investigation.
