Barakova Mine - Distraught wives, mothers and friends of 80 miners killed in an explosion at a Ukrainian mine gathered yesterday to identify the dead.

The Fuel and Energy Minister, Mr Serhiy Tulub, said the coal dust and methane blast at the Barakova mine in eastern Ukraine's Luhansk region on Saturday was one of the former Soviet state's deadliest, and experts would report in two days on its causes.
