The chairman of Thurles urban district council, Mr John Kenehan, has declared himself a candidate in the next general election for the Labour Party in North Tipperary. The current TD, Mr John Ryan (69), has announced his retirement. Mr Kenehan (39) is a shop steward with Erin Foods.
