THE WHO’s lead singer, Roger Daltrey, was in Dublin last night, where he was presented with the James Joyce Award by UCD’s Literary and Historical Society.

The award was in recognition of his work with the Teenage Cancer Trust, a charity that funds specialised wards for teenagers with cancer in the UK.

Hundreds gathered at the university for the ceremony, at which Daltrey reminisced about his early days with The Who and took questions from the audience.

Previous recipients of the award include George Martin, the Beatles’ producer, academic and theorist Noam Chomsky, actor Will Ferrell, and writers Salman Rushdie and JK Rowling.
