A number of people have been arrested in connection with the beating to death of, a man in Cookstown, Co Tyrone, on Sunday night. Mr George Scott (31) died after he was assaulted in his flat at Killymoon Road by three men with baseball bats. Those arrested are being questioned at Gough Barracks, Armagh.
Mr Scott, a Protestant, had a criminal record and the RUC believe his murder was not sectarian. One police source said Mr Scott may have died in a "revenge" attack for an alleged assault in which he was involved.
