Tyrone assault victim dies

A man assaulted close to a nightclub in Co Tyrone earlier this month died in hospital today.

A man assaulted close to a nightclub in Co Tyrone earlier this month died in hospital today.

Police said they were now treating the death of Leslie Parkes (23) as murder.

Mr Parkes, from Knockmoyle, Co Tyrone, was attacked in Molesworth Street, Cookstown in the early hours of September 19th.

A 20-year-old man was charged last week with assaulting Mr Parkes, who died in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast today.

Police said several people were in the area at the time the victim was attacked.
