The Naval Service vessel LE Ciara was last night escorting a Spanish fishing trawler into Castletownbere, Co Cork, the second detention of a Spanish boat in 24 hours. The German registered vessel was detained for alleged illegal fishing some SO miles south west of Bantry Bay.
The LE Ciara had earlier apprehended a UK registered Spanish vessel off Kerry, for alleged logbook infringements.
