Two rescued from Irish Sea fishing boat

Two men have been rescued after their fishing boat sank in the Irish Sea off the coast of Co Down this afternoon.

Two men have been rescued after their fishing boat sank in the Irish Sea off the coast of Co Down this afternoon.

The 10-metre Jenemilost power and began sinking about 12 kilometres east of the entrance to Strangford Lough.

The alarm was raised at 12.55pm and Portaferry Coastguard and Portaferry RNLI Inshore Lifeboats were called to assist the two crew members.

When they arrived, the boat has already sunk and the two men were floating in a life-raft.

They were rescued and brought ashore by the RNLI lifeboat to Portavogie on the Ards Peninsula.
