Two people were rescued from a fishing boat which got into difficulties off the Co Cork coast this morning.

The 10-metrre vessel was in Ballycroneen Bay, east of Cork Harbour, when the alarm was raised shortly after 10am. An RNLI spokeswoman said the crew raised the alarm after the propeller was fouled by ropes.

The Ballycotton Lifeboat was launched and towed the stricken ship to the pier at Ballycotton by 11.40.

No injuries were reported.
