Two men in their 20s charged with the assault of Mr Michael Shannon (34), of Connolly Villas, Ennis, were yesterday remanded to reappear at Ennis District Court next Friday, April 14th.

Mr Michael Nihill (25), of Churchdrive, Clarecastle, and Mr Joseph O'Halloran (29), of Argyll Court, Newpark Road, London, are both charged with assaulting Mr Shannon on Sunday last, April 2nd, at Lysaght's Lane, Ennis.

Mr Shannon died after being found unconscious in a lane-way near the market area in Ennis. The court was told that more serious charges may be brought against the two men.
