Gardaí have released without charge two people arrested yesterday in connection with the death of Athlone woman Lillian Scanlon.
The man and woman, both in their 50s, were arrested at separate addresses in the Willow Park area of Athlone at around 8am yesterday. However, a garda spokesman said both had been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
The body of Ms Scanlon, who was in her 40s, was discovered on the kitchen floor of her house last week at Valley Court, Athlone, Co Westmeath. Detectives believe she was involved in a row at her home around the time of her death.
