GARDAÍ IN Dundalk questioned two people yesterday in connection with the murder of a man in Co Louth almost 18 months ago.

Aidan Myers (37), of Cox's Demesne, Dundalk, Co Louth, was murdered by a gang who attempted to hijack a car in which he was a passenger in December of 2006.

His killing was initially linked to a drunken gang on a cross-Border crime rampage.

A 25-year-old man and 60-year-old woman were arrested as part of the investigation into his death yesterday morning, and questioned at Dundalk Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

They were released yesterday evening without charge.

Mr Myers was attacked by gang members who went on a cross-Border crime rampage in south Armagh and Co Louth.

During the spree they hijacked a number of cars before ramming the vehicle which contained Mr Myers and a friend.

A roadside altercation took place following the collision, during which Mr Myers was killed.

He was found lying on the road by gardaí when they arrived at the scene some time later.
