Gardaí in Galway are investigating if there is any link between two incidents involving the suspected use of pepper spray last night.
Some 560 people were evacuated from the Eye cinema complex on the Dublin road last night after patrons started coughing in one of the theatres.
Fire officers with breathing apparatus searched the premises but found nothing.
A short time later, gardaí arrested a youth in the Salthill area following reports that pepper spray had been used. He is being detained at Salthill Garda station.
