Two people have been killed in separate road crashes last night, bringing the number of people killed on the roads this year to date to 130.

Twenty-year-old  Karl Strong, with an address at Windy Arbour, Athboy was killed when his car left the road at Proudstown in Co Meath at 11.30pm. Gardai from Navan Garda Station are investigating.

In Brittas, Co Dublin a woman in her twenties was killed following a collision between two cars. The 28-year-old woman died following the crash at Raheen Road shortly after 8pm.

Five others were taken to Tallaght Hospital and St James Hospital for treatment.

The woman has not yet been identified.
