Police are believed to have traced the final movements of the car used to transport the Omagh bomb.

It was reported that two men were seen getting out of the maroon Vauxhall Cavalier parked in Market Street at least 40 minutes before the device went off on Saturday. The RUC would not confirm the report last night but said that at the time it was parked in the town the car, originally with the registration plates 91 DL 2554, may have been carrying the registration MDZ 5211.

The car, stolen several days earlier in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan, was seen being driven into Omagh along Campsie Road before being parked in a vacant spot in Market Street, the PA report said. The two men walking back towards Campsie Road.
