Two men have died following road traffic incidents in counties Kildare and Waterford.

A man in his 70s died this afternoon following a two vehicle collision near Dunmore East, Co Waterford.

The incident occurred at 2pm at Gaultier Cross. Two people travelling in the second vehicle were uninjured in the crash.

Meanwhile, gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses following the death of a pedestrian in Co Kildare.

The dead man, who was in his 30s, was hit by a car on the R403 road in Baybush, Straffan, shortly before 10pm last night.

The dead man was fatally injured in the crash. The female driver of the car was uninjured.

The road was closed to facilitate an examination by garda forensic collision investigations.

He is the third pedestrian to have been killed on the roads since St Stephen's Day.
