Two men died in separate road crashes in Co Cork last night.

Two men died in separate road crashes in Co Cork last night.

At about 11 p.m. a man in his fifties died when his four-wheel-drive went out of control at Ballygiblin, Cecilstown, near Mallow. The vehicle crashed through a ditch and ended up in a field.

The driver was taken to Cork University Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.

At 11.20 p.m. a man in his twenties died in a two-car collision at Rathduff, Grenagh. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other car was taken to Cork University Hospital with injuries not thought to be life threatening.

Ninety-nine people have died on the State's road's so far this year, compared to 75 for the same period last year.
