Two men are  recovering in a Belfast hospital after being severely beaten by a masked gang wielding baseball bats in what police described as a paramilitary-style attack.

The victims,  both aged 21, were attacked in the Ainsworth Street area near Woodvale in North Belfast at around 7.30pm.

Three men in balaclavas beat the victims before making off.

Police said their injuries were not life-threatening.
