Two men arrested over Waterford stabbing

Gardai in Waterford have arrested two men in connection with a fatal stabbing in the city last night.

The first man was arrested at lunchtime today and the second was arrested a couple of hours later.

The two men who have been arrested are in their 20s and from Waterford. They are being questioned at Waterford Garda station.

33-year-old Simon Carton was stabbed to death in a flat on Barrack Street in the city. Originally from Co Wexford, Mr Carton was found before 9pm yesterday evening.

He was brought to Waterford Regional Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have been in the Barrack Street area at between 8.00 and 9.00 p.m. or who may have any information in relation to the incident to contact them at Waterford Station on 051 87488.
