Two men arrested after Temple Bar assaults

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a spate of violence in Dublin city centre last night.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a spate of violence in Dublin city centre last night.

Two men in their twenties were arrested after a number of serious assaults in the Temple Bar area in the early houss of this morning.

The first incident took place shortly before 3 a.m. when a man was attacked near Temple Bar Square by two men. Another man who went to the victim's assistance was beaten by the same two men.

The culprits then walked towards Crown Alley where they attacked another two men.

Two of the victims were seriously injured and taken to St James's Hospital where one is intensive care and the other is said to be stable.

The other two men were taken to the Mater Hospital where their condition is described as stable.

Gardai from Pearse Street station appealed for anybody who was in the area between 2.30 a.m. and 3.30 a.m. to contact them.
