Two killed in Limerick crash

The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission is investigating after two men died in a car crash in Co Limerick.

The car in which they were travelling hit a tree at Croagh, near Newcastle West, at about 9.20pm last night. Two men in the car were pronounced dead at the scene, and a third man was taken to hospital with head injuries.

His condition at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital is described as critical.

Shortly before the collision, a garda observed the car and turned his vehicle to follow it. The Garda Siochána Ombudsman's office has been therefore been notified.

A number of witnesses to the crash have already come forward, but gardaí are asking anyone with information to contact Askeaton Garda station on 061 601630.
