TWO MEN who were charged with criminal damage on Tuesday following an incident in which green paint was daubed on the walls of the Iranian embassy in Blackrock, Co Dublin, appeared in court yesterday.

The incident is understood to have taken place at 6am on Tuesday at the embassy on Mount Merrion Avenue.

The two men, both of whom were of Iranian descent and aged 50 and 46, were arrested at the scene and later appeared before Dún Laoghaire District Court.

“We don’t know who exactly these people were or what their motivation was,” said the Iranian ambassador to Ireland, Hossein Panahiazar.
