Two people were wounded today at the CNN Centre complex in Atlanta when a man fired multiple shots.
CNN said the suspect had been arrested and that the wounded people, including a woman who was shot in the face, had been taken to hospital and were in critical condition.
Police said the shooting resulted from an argument between a man and a woman. The two were arguing when the man pulled out a gun and shot her, an Atlanta Police spokesman said.He said the man was then shot by a security guard for the news organisation.
CNN, which said its newsroom was evacuated due to the incident, showed images of what appeared to be the suspect lying on the floor behind doors amid shattered glass as police officers pointed their guns at him.
A CNN producer reported seeing the man shoot the woman twice, the network said.
CNN's headquarters is at the heart of a complex of prominent buildings in downtown Atlanta that includes the Georgia Dome, the Philips Arena, the Georgia Aquarium and Centennial Olympic Park, built for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
