Two men have been arrested in connection with the death of a man in Waterford.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the death of a man in Waterford.

The body of Martin Brophy (22), from Waterford city, was found in a derelict building on New Gate Street on Monday evening. It is believe he may have lain dead for up to 24 hours before his body was discovered.

Two men, understood to be in their late teens, were arrested in the Waterford area this morning at about 10am and they were being held at Waterford Garda station under section 4 of Criminal Justice Act 1984.

An postmortem on Mr Brophy's body showed he had been assaulted.
