Two held over Laois cannabis haul

Two men are to appear in court today in connection with the seizure of cannabis plants worth up to €400,000 in Co Laois.

Two men are to appear in court today in connection with the seizure of cannabis plants worth up to €400,000 in Co Laois.

Gardaí discovered the plants at a house in Rathmiles, Portarlington at about 11.30pm on Wednesday night.

The haul was uncovered as part of an ongoing investigation in the area.

Two men, aged 54 and 34 years, were arrested at the scene and taken to Portlaoise Garda station where they were held under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The men are scheduled to appear before a sitting of Nenagh District Court in Co Tipperary later today.
