Two men have been remanded in custody in connection with the discovery of a suspected pipe bomb at Galway Garda station more than two years ago.

The Garda station in Mill Street, Galway, had to be evacuated for three hours in February 2009 while the Army bomb disposal unit dealt with the suspect device.

Michael O’Loughlin (29), Ballybane, Galway, appeared before Galway District Court yesterday charged with having a pipe bomb and a .22 rifle on February 27th, 2009.

Alan Rossborough (24), Glendara, Rahoon, Galway, is charged with having the same rifle under his control on the same date.
