Two held over Co Down robbery

Two men were being questioned by detectives tonight after a robbery on a cash in transit van.

Two men were being questioned by detectives tonight after a robbery on a cash in transit van.

A man with a knife threatened a worker and demanded the cash box before he fled the scene in a white Metro car.

Nobody was injured in the incident, which happened in the Bath Street area of Ardglass in Co Down at around 1.30pm.

The raider’s car was found burnt out a short distance away.

Two men, aged in their 30s and 40s, were later arrested.

Detectives in Downpatrick have appealed for anyone who witnessed the robbery or saw the movements of the getaway car to come forward.
