Two people were arrested over the weekend by police investigating the murder of a man in Belfast city centre

Two people were arrested over the weekend by police investigating the murder of a man in Belfast city centre. Christopher Mackin (31), was shot in the College Square North area shortly before 9.30pm on Friday.

Detectives were keeping an open mind on the motive for the killing. Mr Mackin, a father of one, who lived near the scene of the attack, was shot a number of times and died a short time later in hospital.

Detective Chief Inspector John McVea said a man and woman were arrested in Belfast in connection with the shooting. – (PA)
