Gardai are questioning two individuals tonight after a quantity of drugs worth an estimated €50,000 was seized in two separate operations.

One man and a woman are being questioned in Limerick after drugs squad officers seized seven kilograms of cannabis during searches in the city.

A 52-year-old woman was arrested after three kilos was found in a search of a house in St Mary's Park.

A 21-year-old man was taken into custody after a van was stopped and searched in the same estate and four kilos recovered.

Both are being questioned under section two of the Criminal Justice Act in Henry Street Garda Station.

Gardai said the drugs are thought to have a street value of almost €50,000 and have been taken away for forensic examination.
