Two held after drugs seizure

Two men are being held by gardaí after drugs worth an estimated €600,000 were seized in Portlaoise yesterday.

Two men are being held by gardaí after drugs worth an estimated €600,000 were seized in Portlaoise yesterday.

Gardaí stopped and searched a van on Grattan Street, Portlaoise, at about 3.30pm as part of an investigation into the sale of drugs in the Portlaoise area.

They seized a quantity of cocaine and cannabis herb, and two men in their 30s were arrested.

In a subsequent search yesterday evening at a premises on Factory Lane in the town, more cocaine and cannabis herb was found.

The two men arrested are being held under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act at Portlaoise Garda station.
