The PSNI arrested two people today following robberies and assaults in Belfast.

An 18-year-old woman and a male juvenile are being held over six separate criminal incidents in a six-hour period.

The offences began shortly before 10pm last night when a staff member in cafe in Botanic Avenue was assaulted by a woman.

Half an hour later, staff at a nearby takeaway restaurant were robbed at knifepoint by two males and a female.

Two males and a female were also involved in three further assault and robberies on pedestrians more than three hours later.

Two women had their handbags stolen and a man had his wallet and phone taken after being threatened with a knife in the incidents on Fitzroy Avenue, Cromwell Road and Botanic Avenue.

Police are also investigating a burglary from a house in Fitzroy Avenue reported at 4.10am.
