Mr Kenneth Collins (23), of Southville Gardens, South Circular Road, Limerick, was taken by helicopter from a beach at Barley Cove in west Cork after he got into difficulties while swimming with his girlfriend at 1.30 p.m. yesterday. He died later at Cork University Hospital.
In a separate incident, a man died when his motor cycle collided with a truck at the roundabout near Midleton, Co Cork shortly after lunchtime yesterday. Mr Michael O'Riordan, (32), single, of Ballycotton, was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital in Cork.
