Two critically injured in crashes

A ten-year-old girl was critically injured yesterday evening when she was hit by a car in Dundalk, Co Louth.

The child was knocked down at Castletown Road at 7.50pm and taken to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital.

A Garda spokesman said she is to be transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin today.

Meanwhile, a 29-year-old man is in a critical condition in Sligo General Hospital today.

The car he was driving hit a tree at Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim at about 6.50pm yesterday. He was the sole occupant and there were no other vehicles involved.
