Two men have been remanded in custody charged with smashing windows inside a Garda station

Two men have been remanded in custody charged with smashing windows inside a Garda station. Maciej Bozek (24), Castletroy, Limerick, is charged with smashing two windows inside Newcastle West Garda station on Saturday.

Marusz Kalandyk (31), Newcastle West, Co Limerick, is also charged with smashing the windows. Both are Polish nationals. The estimated cost to repair the windows is €500.

Both were charged with causing criminal damage before a special sitting yesterday of Limerick District Court.

The men, who were granted free legal aid, were also charged with engaging or using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour or words, at Newcastle West Garda station on Saturday.

Judge Aeneas McCarthy remanded them to appear at Listowel District Court tomorrow.
