Two men who are being charged with involvement in an organised criminal gang in Galway city under new anti-gang legislation have been remanded in continuing custody.

Paul Black (29), Corrach Buí, Galway, and Mark Dowling (20), Castlepark, Ballybane, Galway, both appeared before Galway District Court charged that between July 23rd last year and June 1st this year in Galway, knowing that a criminal organisation existed, they participated in an activity to enhance the ability of the organisation to commit a serious offence – the possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

They were further remanded by Judge Aeneus McCarthy to appear on June 18th. Both men were arrested following raids on houses across Galway city last week.
