Two cases of a disease in calves called Bovine Neonatal Pancytopaenia, also called “calf haemorrhagic disease”, which has not been found in the State before, have been confirmed on a Co Cork farm.

While there is no evidence the condition is infectious or that it gives rise to food safety concerns, this newly emerging disease shows up in young calves, who develop a fever and may bleed excessively.
