Two arrested over Dublin murder

Two people have been arrested by gardaí investigating the murder of Gerard Burnett in West Dublin in August.

Two people have been arrested by gardaí investigating the murder of Gerard Burnett in West Dublin in August.

He died after receiving stab wounds during an altercation outside the front door of his house in the Castlecurragh Vale estate, Mulhuddart before midnight on August 21st.

Mr Burnett, who was living at the house with his partner and son, was taken to Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown. He was pronounced dead just before 1am the following day.

Two males, aged 20 and 17 years, were arrested this afternoon in Dublin in connection with the incident.

They are being detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Andrew Gibney (20), Dromheath Avenue, Mulhuddart, was brought before Dublin District Court and charged with assault causing serious harm to Mr Burnett in late August.
