Two men were arrested and a firearm was recovered in Dublin city last night.
Gardaí made the arrests at Clanbrassil Street at about 9.15pm.
The men have been detained under Section 30 of The Offences Against the State Act at Kevin Street and Kilmainham Garda stations.
They can be detained for up the 72 hours, a Garda statement said.
